General Patient Registrations

What should I do with unmatched registrations?

We don't know when a transaction goes unmatched. Most, if not all transactions should go through absolutely fine and update your system. However, if they do go 'unmatched' we aren't made aware until practices inform us.

You should contact us providing your practice code and the transaction number. We will then provide you back with the patient details so you can ensure your system is showing the correct information for the patient.

To contact PCSE, the Online form is the preferred route as long as you provide your practice code and the unmatched transaction numbers. We will accept an email to the Registrations email address though

Why can’t I order GMS1 forms from PCSE Online?

From 31 October 2024, GMS1 forms are no longer available to order on PCSE Online.

‘Register for a GP surgery’, a free online service for GP practices across England, has been introduced, simplifying patient registrations. All GP surgeries in England must offer the national service by 31 October 2024.

As part of this change, the GMS1 form has been phased out and replaced with a new paper registration form (PRF1) for those patients who are not able register using the new digital service. The PRF1 reflects the new online registration form that has been developed. Practices will now need to print out the PRF1 for the small number of patients who do not have digital access, with the majority of patients registering online.

If you have not already signed up to the new online registration service, more information and help is available on the NHS England website Register with a GP surgery service web page.

I'm a patient - do I need to be registered at a GP practice to get the Covid-19 vaccine?

No, you do not need to have a GP or an NHS number to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

If you don’t have an NHS number you can contact your local GP surgery to organise the vaccine or attend a COVID-19 vaccination walk-in centre or pop-up centre. You can use the link below to find your nearest walk-in centre:

If you have an NHS number, when you are invited for your vaccine, we encourage you to attend.

Do I need a new GP code if I move to a new practice?

Yes.  If you move to a new practice, a new GP code will be issued to you as part of the Performers List change  notification process.  Please do not use your old GP code once you move to a new practice, as this would result in new  patient registrations being assigned to your previous practice, and the patient’s medical records would be sent to your previous practice.   Details on the performers list change notification process can be found here.

Notifying PCSE of a change of clinical system/system migration

Please notify PCSE a week before the change takes place so that we can arrange to turn the GP Links off.

Please complete this form:

System Migration Request form

PCSE will confirm the highest transaction number as this will need to be passed on to your new Clinical System Supplier so that they can increase the Practice Transaction Numbers to prevent duplications occurring, which can occur with system changes.

Please do not attempt to send any registrations through the GP links until the GP links are turned back on (go live date).

If you have any queries regarding system migration please contact pcse.linkconfirmations@nhs.net
