I am unable to update my status on the Performers List in PCSE Online. Why is this?
PCSE Online requires you to either consent or decline to have your details shared with your LRC*, so that your Performer List records can be updated.
You can consent or decline by scrolling to the bottom of the Personal Details screen and there will be some text which states “I CONSENT TO NHS ENGLAND ROUTINELY SHARING MY DETAILS WITH THE RELEVANT LRC”. Click "Yes" if you consent, or click "No" if you decline.

I've submitted a request to leave the Performers List, but my name is still showing on the PL website.
If you've submitted a request to leave the Performers List, but your details are still showing on the PL website, this could be due to different reasons.
- 'Awaiting NHSE' status
If your case is showing 'Awaiting NHSE' status, this is because your local NHSE region has not yet accepted or rejected your request. You can contact them for an update.
- 'In Progress' status
If your case is showing 'In Progress' status, PCSE are dealing with the case. You can contact PCSE to ask for an update on the case.
- Future effective date
If your effective date to leave is in the future, your case will be processed on or after the effective date.

I've submitted a request to withdraw from the Performers List. I've changed my mind.
If your withdrawal date has not yet taken effect, please log into PCSE Online:
- click the green performers list button
- choose 'Change History'
- click the blue 'Retract' button next to your withdrawal case
- select 'Retract'
- click ok on the pop up that appears
If your withdrawal date has taken effect, and your case is yet to be resolved, please contact PCSE using the Performers List New Enquiry contact us form, so that we can update your records.
I am taking 24 hour retirement/Retire and Return, but I can't see an option for this on PCSE Online.
Performers no longer need to tell the PCSE Performers List team if they have taken or wish to take 24 hour retirement/Retire and Return.
You will need to notify the PCSE Pensions Team about this, using the GP Pensions contact us form. Please use the GP Pensions New Enquiry form, and select 'Retirement/Death in Service/Ill Health Retirement' from the Pension Query drop down list, and then select 'Query'.
How does a practice notify PCSE of a mid-month or mid-year pension contribution tier rate change due to salary change?
A practice needs to submit an Estimate of Pensionable Pay/Earnings for the upcoming finanicial year, for every salaried, principal and non-GP partner at their practice, by 31 March. This ensures the pension contributions taken for each GP are accurate. The Estimate form in PCSE Online will auto-populate from with the detail of all current GPs for whom the practice has completed a Joiner form. The practice should enter the pensionable income and tier rate for each GP.
It is important that the Esimate is as accurate as possible, to avoid large adjustments when end of year certificates are reconciled.
If a Salaried GP's estimated income for that financial year changes during the year, the practice needs to submit a Salary Change form. The salary change does not have to happen at the start of the year or the start of the month, it can happen at any point in the year. The practice will need to select the Salaried GP from the list, enter the start date of the salary change, enter the new pensionable income amount and select the tier rate. Tick to confirm the changes and submit.
If a Principal GP or non-GP Partner's salary changes throughout the year, it is best practice to update the Estimate form with the change of income and tier rate.
A former GP still has not updated their employment details in PCSE Online despite having left some time ago/working in another country. They are still linked to our practice.
The most important action for a practice to take when a GP who is a member of the NHS Pension scheme leaves is to complete the Joiner form. This will stop any pension contributions being taken in error.
With regards to the Performer List element, it is the responsibility of the GP to keep their Performer List record up to date in PCSE Online. Retirement or withdrawal from the Performers lis, both instigated by the GP, or death in service mean that the Performers List will be updated accordingly. Unfortunately, outside of those processes neither the practice or PCSE have the access to GP Performer records to instigate the change required to detach them from your practice.
How do I change my status as a GP, from Salaried GP to Principal GP, or from Principal GP to Salaried GP?
Changing your status as a GP needs to be completed by the Performer in PCSE Online. This change can take place at your current practice or if you are moving to a new practice.
Submitemployment change in PCSE Online
Log into PCSE Online, navigate to the Performer dashboard, and select Employment Details. If you are joining a new practice, select Yes to 'Are you terminating your employment at this practice?'. You will need to enter your new practice details and select Yes to 'Are you changing your Prinipal or Salaried status at this practice?', select the appropriate option and submit.
If you are staying at your current practice, select No to 'Are you terminating your employment at this practice?'. Next select Yes to 'Are e you changing your Prinipal or Salaried status at this practice?'. You can then select the appropriate option and submit.
Approval of employment change
Any change which involves a Principal GP (to or from) will require approval from both the practice and the ICB. This also requires a contract variation, which needs to be initiated by the ICB.
I am an ophthalmic performer - my store hasn't registered for PCSE Online yet. Can I access the PCSE Online Performer List service?
The store needs to set up its User Administrators first. These User Administrators can then select the Performers that are relevant to their store.
Only once this has been done can ophthalmic performers use the online service.

I can't see myself on the Performers List for England website. What do I need to do?
You can request that the Performers List team investigate this via the online enquiry form. Select ‘Performers List’ as the subject enquiry type and complete the information requested. Please include a description of the issue in the message box when prompted and include your Regulatory Body and Performers List numbers in the communication.
Primary care providers should speak to your NHS England local office to confirm the status of a performer in the absence of them being evident on the Performers List for England website.
How will I know when the changes to my Performer record have been approved?
You will receive an email from PCSE asking you to check PCSE Online to view the changes made to your Performer record.
Once the change to my Performer record has been approved, is there anything else I need to do?
If your change involves a change of practice, status or number of sessions worked, yes.
Once your change has been approved on PCSE Online, you will need to submit a new Estimate of Pensionable Profit form. This should be submitted to PCSE using the online enquiry form.
How long does it take to process a change to my Performer record?
This depends on the type of change you are applying to make. If you are changing your practice this will require approval from your NHS England regional team or ICB.
How do I withdraw from the Performers List?
If you are resigning, retiring or taking 24 hour retirement, you'll need to notify us via the Performer Home page on PCSE Online.
- Click on the Withdrawal from the Performers List option on the left hand menu
- Enter the date the withdrawal is effective from and the reason for withdrawal e.g. Resignation, Retirement or 24-hour retirement
- Press submit
Medical Performers submitting a withdrawal notification
When a medical performer submits a withdrawal notification, the request progresses through an approvals process:
- PCSE teams will ensure the practice is correctly registered on PL PCSE portal and assign the request to a PCSE case officer
- This will then trigger the approval process
- The case will go to the practice and the local office for approval
- If the performer is a partner then it will also go to the CCG once the practice has approved the request
- Once all approvals have been received the performer will be notified that their Withdrawal has been approved and their name will be withdrawn at the effective date of withdrawal
Other Performers submitting a withdrawal notification
If a dental performer, ophthalmic performer or a medical performer who is a locum and unattached to a practice submits a withdrawal case then the request will go straight to the local office for approval.
Once approved the performer will be notified by email that their withdrawal has been approved and their name will be withdrawn on the approved effective date.

What are the manage performer statuses and what do they mean?
- Pending – Change request has been submitted for processing
- Assigned – Change request has been submitted and PCSE will process the request. You will receive an email notifying you when a decision has been made.
- Awaiting NHS England Decision – Change request has been submitted and is with NHS England for consideration. You will receive an email notifying you when a decision has been made.
- Closed – Change request is complete.
How do I update my registered user details on PCSE Online?
You can do this via the “Home Screen” on PCSE Online. Visit the Performer list page for your profession, and download the Performer Management User Guide for further details.
How do I make changes to the information held about me on the Performer List for England?
You need to be registered to use the PCSE Online Performer List service.
You can make changes to the following details via PCSE Online:
- Personal details
- Employment details
- NHS England Local Office details
- Status/Performer Type

I am a performer but do not work at a practice. How can I access the new system if I work solely for an out of hours provider or social enterprise organisation?
If your organisation is known to PCSE, you have already been registered and sent a verification email from pcse.noreply@nhs.net, to complete your registration. Please check your junk/spam folder.

I am already on the Performers List for England for my profession - do I need to do anything on PCSE Online?
You should log into PCSE Online, and check the information displayed is correct.
You can update your Performer record - personal details, employment details, status etc - via PCSE Online.
If you do not have access to PCSE Online, visit the Performers Lists page and select your profession. From here you simply need to select 'New Performers' and go to page 6 in the 'Performers List application guide'.
